Zipa Hosting offers free migration service to transfer all your website files, scripts, databases, emails and control panel settings from your previous service provider to your new hosting account with us. This service is offered free of cost to clients that sign up for our shared, reseller and dedicated hosting plans. We will work with you personally to make sure your site is up and running.
If your previous hosting is a cPanel based hosting, log into your previous host's cPanel and navigate to Backup > Full Backup. Click on 'Download a Full Website Backup'. You will be asked to choose a 'backup destination' to store the backup and to provide an email address. After backup generation is complete, you will receive a notification at the email address you provided earlier. Now just download the backup file, upload it on your Zipa Hosting account, and open a ticket to restore the backup. If you need help in generating your own backups, please open a ticket and we'll be happy to help.
99% of the migrations fit in the free migration program. If for some reason, we are unable to complete the transfer due to incompatibility issues on the source server or other issues, we will hand over the project to you to complete or provide you with an estimate, whichever you prefer:
You can also do the transfer yourself if you want. We have a detailed and easy to follow guide on How to Transfer Sites from Your Old Hosting to Zipa Hosting. You will be able to migrate your website files, emails and databases by following these easy instructions using FTP and phpMyAdmin. Email addresses and forwarders can also be imported from a XLS or CSV file using ‘Import Email Accounts and Forwarders’ tool and import old messages through IMAP or POP. If your site turns out to be incompatible with our platform, (this almost never happens) or we are unable to complete the transfer but you have paid for additional work, you will receive a 100% refund of your purchase. All of your files will be left intact on your current hosting account. We will not remove or delete any files from your current hosting account.
If there is additional work involved in transferring your site you will be charged on a per hour/website basis. An estimate on time and cost involved will be given so you can make an informed decision.
For reseller hosting, we will transfer a maximum of 20 websites per account. For hosted email, we will transfer a maximum of 20 email accounts. One of our transfer specialists will spend up to 3 hours to transfer your website files, databases, scripts, emails and settings to your new Zipa Hosting account.
In most cases, we will be able to complete the transfer within 48 hours of receiving such request from you; however, there is no guarantee that such timeframe will be met in all cases.
If for some reason, we are unable to complete the transfer, we will hand over the project to you to complete or provide you with an estimate, whichever you prefer. In order for the transfer process to function smoothly, we will need your full cooperation and access to the source hosting/control panels.
Free migration is a complementary service offered free of cost to new customers. We do not guarantee that a transfer is possible in all cases.
Email service won't be affected by the migration.
Your website should not experience any downtime as we will have both servers running while we perform the migration.
To avoid data lost we will be disabling FTP services during the migration period.
Due to differences between the servers, there are something which will require you to test and make changes to in order for services to resume as previous. Some of these items include:
a) PHP Scripts may stop working as the PHP and MySQL version has been updated. Therefore, you will need to contact your scripting provider to ensure you are currently running the latest version.
b) Password Protected Pages will need to be setup again. .
We will migrate all of your account data, including files, databases, subdomains, users etc., will be carried over to the new cPanel system.
